Is PORTYL only useful at the historic site?
PORTYL is designed to be most powerful at the real location, where geospatial alignment connects the reconstruction to the site. Available virtual viewing modes can also let you explore away from the destination.
Do I need a headset?
No. A compatible iPhone, iPad or Android device is all you need. Review compatible devices.
How should I prepare before visiting?
Install PORTYL, purchase or select the appropriate experience, and download the venue content over Wi-Fi before arriving. At the site, allow the camera and location permissions needed for spatial alignment.
How does Histoury create the reconstructions?
Histoury combines archaeological and historical research with consultation from historians and archaeologists. Where evidence is incomplete, informed interpretation is used and presented responsibly.
