What do I need before using PORTYL?
You need the PORTYL app, a compatible Apple or Android device, downloaded destination content and the necessary camera and location permissions.
Why should I download destination content before arriving?
Historical sites may have limited mobile service. Downloading over Wi-Fi beforehand reduces delays and avoids relying on a connection at the location.
Does PORTYL require a headset?
No. A compatible iPhone, iPad or Android device is all you need. Review compatible devices.
What does geospatial alignment mean?
Install PORTYL, purchase or select the appropriate experience, and download the venue content over Wi-Fi before arriving. At the site, allow the camera and location permissions needed for spatial alignment.
Can PORTYL be explored away from the site?
PORTYL is designed to be most powerful at the historical location. Available virtual viewing modes may also allow some experiences to be explored elsewhere.
